Tōzenji, established in 1989 by the late Zuichō Hashimoto, a Japanese priest of one of the Pure Land sect (Seizan Jōdo-shū ), serves as a “dōjō”—a place for practice—where the local community can engage with the living tradition of Buddhism in Japan and the country’s cultural heritage.

In today’s era of abundant information, the true essence of Buddhist practice transcends words and must be transmitted heart to heart, through direct experience and genuine connection.

Tōzenji is managed by the Seizan Buddhist Studies and Cultural Centre (Seizan BSCC), a non-profit organization registered in British Columbia. Membership is open to anyone who supports Rev. Hashimoto’s vision by participating in the cultural, recreational, and religious activities held at the temple. We warmly welcome people from all backgrounds and beliefs, without asking anyone to change their current views or practices.

Your support is vital to sustaining Tōzenji as a vibrant center for spiritual growth and cultural exchange. By becoming a member of Seizan BSCC, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the temple's preservation and take part in shaping its future. 東漸寺は、1989年に浄土西山宗の僧侶である故橋本随暢師によって設立されました。「道場」としての役割を果たし、地域の人々が日本仏教の生きた伝統やそれに関連する日本文化活動に触れ合える場を提供しています。

情報があふれる現代において、仏教の実践の真髄は、単なる言葉を超えたものであり、直接的な体験や真心によって初めて伝えられるべきものです。

東漸寺は、ブリティッシュコロンビア州に登録された非営利団体 Seizan Buddhist Studies and Cultural Centre (Seizan BSCC) によって運営されています。メンバーシップは、文化、レクリエーション、宗教行事に関わるすべての方々に開かれており、Seizan BSCCはあらゆる背景や信仰を持つ方々を温かく歓迎します。また、現在の信仰や価値観を変更することを求めることはありません。
